Toye & Co collects top jewellery industry apprenticeship award

BIRMINGHAM-based jewellery and regalia manufacturer, Toye & Co, has been named Apprentice Employer of the Year at a jewellery industry awards ceremony.

The firm, one of Birmingham’s oldest family-owned businesses, picked up the award from the Holts Academy of Jewellery in a ceremony at London’s Guildhall attended by industry professionals, VIPs and academy graduates.

Holts Academy exists to foster and deliver high quality training and development to students and apprentices in the jewellery trade. All its facilities are built and equipped as real workshops.

Lee Lucas, of Holts Academy, said: “The competition for Apprentice Employer of the Year was fierce; Toye & Co was up against companies from right across the jewellery industry.

“But the company’s commitment to the progression of their apprentices as well as the unique and very valuable guidance and support won out.”

Toye & Co chief executive Fiona Toye added: “Our business is built on craft skills and so training and encouraging the next generation is absolutely essential to our long term success.

“This is why we invest time and energy in our apprenticeship programme.  We’ve been delighted to watch and support our apprentices’ development within our company and so are particularly delighted the hard work of everyone involved has been recognised by this award.”
