Engineering firm invests in new machinery to support growth

A BLACK Country automotive component firm has committed to fresh investment in its production facilities after securing a new order.

Lye-based Midland Deburr and Finish, a vibro-deburring and solvent-degreasing specialist, has pumped £20,000 into new machinery following the order, won from an automotive component manufacturer supplying the UK and European markets.

Earlier this year, the firm extended its production facilities from 7,500 sq ft to two units totalling 10,000 sq ft. This was done to ensure the firm could accommodate the installation of a new hermetically-sealed solvent degreasing machine.

Having been commissioned by the new client to degrease high volumes of fasteners, Midland Deburr and Finish decided to make commit funding to buy two extra machines.

One is used to increase existing component finishing capacity and the other removes oil and swarf from the plastic containers used to transport fasteners.

Usually dealing with the fastener cleaning processes in-house, the component manufacturer was experiencing capacity and quality issues. It carried out a trial at Midland Deburr and Finish Ltd which produced the desired results and awarded it the contract.

Chris Arrowsmith, managing director, Midland Deburr & Finish said: ”This extra automotive business has cemented our reputation as a leading component finishing supplier to Tier 1 manufacturing companies within the UK. It is one of our highest priorities to constantly invest in our business to ensure stability and growth for the future.”
