Re-appointment for Higgs & Sons

BLACK Country law firm Higgs & Sons has re-appointed family lawyer Rhian Gray after she left the Brierley Hill following her training to work for SGH Martineau.

Her return comes as the Higgs family team is enjoying its busiest ever year.
 
Ms Gray said: “I gained some great experience working at SGH Martineau but I am thrilled to be coming back to Higgs and the family team. I am really looking forward to once more being part of this firm, its ambitious future and providing exceptional service to our clients.”
 
The Higgs’ family team is currently on course to expand further as it puts in place an ambitious strategy for growth, centred around the needs of its clients.
 
Head of the department, Philip Barnsley said: “We’re delighted to have Rhian back with us. She has proven expertise and will provide our clients with excellent legal advice as well as the care and support that they require.
 
“As a department, we strive hard to find constructive ways of helping families, but also protecting people’s rights as and when required.”
 
Alongside her work at Higgs, Ms Gray is chair of Young Resolution in the West Midlands and sits on the main Resolution Committee. 

Weightmans expands marketing team

LAW firm Weightmans has announced plans to significantly increase the size of its marketing team.

The fast-growing top 50 firm, which has its HQ in Liverpool, is creating 12 new positions at manager, executive and assistant level.  The new roles are for bids/tenders, business development, CRM, database, digital, internal communications and PR roles.

Director of marketing Sarah-Jane Howitt said the recruitment drive was the result of recent growth, adding: “Two key strands of our strategy are focused on our clients and our profile in our chosen markets. The marketing team plays a central role in driving the firm forward in these areas, working day to day with the board and senior partners to deliver the strategy.”

“It is absolutely essential that the structure and make-up of our team reflects the strategic direction of the firm and this expansion is in keeping with this.”

The new roles will be based in Liverpool and London, but travel will be required across the firm’s network of UK offices, which includes Manchester, Knutsford and Birmingham. 

Thomas Horton strengthens criminal team

Genevieve Worthington, Criminal Defence and Prison Lawyer, Thomas HortonWORCESTERSHIRE law firm, Thomas Horton Solicitors, has strengthened its criminal defence team with the appointment of a prison law expert to its Worcester office.
 
Genevieve Worthington, left, joins the firm as a Criminal Defence and Prison Lawyer, a hands-on role that will see her representing clients at police stations, in magistrates and Crown Courts and at prisons throughout Worcestershire. She will also be part of the firm’s duty solicitor programme.
