Sports bar franchise expands with opening of new outlet

A SPORTS bar chain established in Staffordshire has opened a new franchise to add to its growing portfolio.

Bar Sport was originally established in Cannock in 1998 by former top amateur boxing champion Scott Murray.

The opening of the new outlet in Bromley is part of a rolling programme to expand the size of the business.

The latest outlet has seen an investment of £500,000 in a move which will create 30 new jobs. The franchise will be run by businesswoman Jenn Healy and her partner Hylton Shaer.

“I have been a businesswoman for much of my adult life and when we discovered about the Bar Sport franchise we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to run a business with a huge emphasis on sport as we both love it,” said Ms Healy.

“We are both extremely excited about the prospect of becoming a franchisee and running Bar Sport in Bromley as we believe so much in the concept. We are confident it will be a great success. We have received lots of support from Scott and his staff to help us realise our dream in owning a sports bar.”

The Bromley venue follows recent openings in Maidenhead, Croydon and Wilmslow, while venues at Newbury, Watford and Livingston in Scotland are set to open in the autumn.

Murray continues to run his original Bar Sport venue at Cannock, which is not a franchise.

He said: “It is fantastic to see yet another Bar Sport open in the UK. The Bar Sport franchise is growing all the time. By the autumn we are hoping to have opened another two more which will take the current franchise to seven.

“It is a great opportunity for would-be bar owners to join the Bar Sport franchise. What we are doing is providing a tried and tested formula and the benefit of our experience before agreeing to work together where we offer branding support and operational advice along the way. The reaction to Bar Sport elsewhere shows we have a winning formula. We eventually want to open a Bar Sport in every town in the UK.”
