Bibby Consulting and Support snapped up by northern rival

STAFFORDSHIRE’S Bibby Consulting and Support has been acquired by Citation, a private equity-backed health and safety and employment law adviser.

Newcastle-under-Lyme-based Bibby CAS has been part of Liverpool-based Bibby Line Group since 2009.

The acquisition is part of Wilmslow-based Citation’s growth plan under the ownership of ECI Partners, which acquired the company last year and quickly installed Chris Morris, the former chief executive of LateRooms as chief executive.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Bibby CAS has more than 2,000 clients. Like Citation it enables employers and senior managers to attain and maintain compliance within the fields of employment law, health and safety and environmental legislation.

David Robertson, chairman of Bibby CAS, said: “The acquisition represents an excellent opportunity for Bibby Consulting and Support, its clients and its employees.

“The two businesses have a compelling strategic fit, supported by a common culture of excellence in client service and commitment to people. We’re confident that the combined scale and proposition will drive continued growth and development to the benefit of clients.”

Citation’s Morris, added: “Citation has ambitious plans and we have grown our business significantly in recent years thanks to the hard work of the management team, our employees and the support of our clients.

“We are delighted to have acquired Bibby Consulting and Support and are committed to working hard to ensure that all our clients – old and new – enjoy the excellent level of service, professionalism and commitment upon which we have built our reputation.

“Today’s announcement is another significant step in delivering our ambitious growth strategy.”

PwC advised Citation on the acquisition.
