Tony Hyde becomes chairman in Thomas Vale management shake up

STOURPORT-based construction firm Thomas Vale has undergone a top-level management shake-up.

The firm, owned by Bouygues UK, has replaced well-known managing director Tony Hyde with former construction director Gerry Mail.  Hyde becomes the company’s chairman.

The change, which will take effect immediately, will see Mail in charge of day to day operations at Thomas Vale. He will also join the Bouygues UK leadership team.

It is understood Hyde will retain a personal focus on key business clients in the Midlands.

Mail was quoted in Construction Enquirer as saying:  “I am relishing the prospect of building upon Tony’s leadership of the Thomas Vale business. By driving continuous improvement and new thinking throughout the business, we will ensure that we are doing the very best for our clients.”

Hyde said: “Thomas Vale, our clients and the fantastic people that work with us, have been a huge part of my life since I joined in the business in 1980, so of course, I am delighted to take on the chairman role and be given the opportunity in such an exciting time in the development of the business.”
