National Express ties up coach ticket deal with Post Office

BIRMINGHAM-based transport group, National Express, has reached an agreement with the Post Office which will see the latter sell coach tickets over the counter at more than 11,000 of its branches nationwide.
National Express, said the partnership strengthened its UK services and it was hoping for increased business from Post Office customers. The high footfall experienced at the branches offers a strong selling platform for the coach business.
The coach firm said customers using the Post Office would give counter assistants details of their travel requirements and in return they would be advised on journey details and best available fares before purchasing their ticket.
Approximately a third of all journeys taken with the UK’s largest coach operator are to airports. The link-up will also enable people to purchase coach travel straight to the airport terminal along with their travel insurance and foreign currency.
Tom Stables, managing director National Express UK Coach said: “In this day and age, some businesses overlook the importance of face-to-face bookings, but we are all about increasing the options on offer for our customers.
“We want to make it as convenient as possible for people to take advantage of affordable coach travel and are thrilled people can now pop into Post Office branches to get their coach ticket. The Post Office is a fixture of the UK high street and we hope the partnership helps give high streets up and down the UK a welcome boost.”
Alan Smith, head of payments at the Post Office added: “The partnership offers more choice and flexibility to our customers and by walking into any one of thousands of participating Post Office branches, they can now benefit from coach services that can take them all over the UK and beyond.”
