DWF advises on energy management acquisition

THE Birmingham office of law firm DWF has advised global lighting energy management business Leviton on its acquisition of UK lighting firm JCC Advanced Lighting.
Leviton has acquired Bognor Regis-based JCC – for an undisclosed sum – from private equity firm LDC.
The acquisition will strengthen Leviton’s global market position and extend the company’s product portfolio through JCC product offering in energy efficient LED lighting fixtures covering residential, office, industrial and retail lighting.
Under the terms of the deal JCC Advanced Lighting will operate as a standalone business and will maintain operations in England.
Mark Gibson led on the deal from DWF’s Birmingham office supported by corporate solicitor Mark Canning, employment and pensions director Hannah Robbins, and corporate tax director Haydn Rogan.
He said: “With this strategic acquisition Leviton has established a significant presence in the UK, enabling the business to facilitate future growth both in the UK and overseas.”
North American business Leviton employs more than 6,500 people worldwide and focuses on electrical wiring devices, network and data centre connectivity solutions and lighting energy management systems.
Leviton has a portfolio of more than 25,000 products and 600 patents and sells in 80 countries. It is said nine out of ten homes in North America use products made by Leviton.
