Ambitious plans for an office scheme above Snow Hill station the subject of talks

PERSISTENT rumours about plans for a large-scale office scheme above Birmingham’s Snow Hill station appear to be moving closer to reality.

It is understood that Birmingham City Council and Network Rail are planning a scheme which would see the heavily-used car park, which sits above the station, demolished and a ten-storey office block built in its place.

One Snowhill and TwoSnowhill developer Ballymore, which owns the ‘air space’ above Snow Hill station and thus the development rights for the car park, is also involved in the talks.

A leading property figure involved in the initial discussions told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We knew the city council was serious about this because Sir Albert Bore was in all the meetings.”

A figure of £400m has been suggested for the scheme – which could surpass 500,000 sq ft and which would also include a new station entrance in Livery Street.
