150 jobs lost at Coventry manufacturer RSM Industries

A CAR parts company based near Coventry is to cut 150 jobs after losing nine major contracts to supply seat components.

RSM Industries, based in Exhall, said it was “shocked” that all contracts with Johnson Controls had been cancelled.

The work making metal brackets accounted for almost all of the firm’s business and the cuts would mean the company was left with a staff of 15.

Johnson Controls had nine contracts with RSM to make components for car seats in Jaguars, Nissan and Ford models.

RSM’s managing director Greg Williams said the news had “come as a shock, especially as we’ve been working with Johnson Controls for 20 years”.

Some 95 full-time and 60 contract staff would lose their jobs.
