Training company secures new contracts with colleges

A BIRMINGHAM training company has secured contracts totalling almost £1m with two colleges outside the region.

The deal will see GB Training Ltd working alongside Burton and South Derbyshire College and Islington College, London.

The training provider, based in Bromsgrove Street, will provide an adult skills training service in areas including transport, care and customer service.

It is another welcome contract for the well-established family-run training firm, which earlier this year announced a £500,000 contract with the Skills Funding Agency to fund around 200 apprenticeships over the next 12 months.

Lawrence Barton, GB Training director, said: “We are delighted with both new partnerships and the reach they will give us in two different parts of the country.

“The training industry has been a very challenging environment over the past couple of years and has made all providers including us look at how we can best respond to changing needs. These partnerships with colleges and gaining direct contracts have been very good news for us.”

GB Training already has around 250 apprentices registered with it in jobs at businesses across Birmingham and the West Midlands. It works alongside organisations including the Radisson Blu hotel chain, Ramada Hotels, Cadbury World, Ikea and Heartlands Hospital.
