Harris Lamb sees third consecutive year of growth

MIDLANDS property consultancy Harris Lamb has reported a successful 2013, having completed deals in excess of 4.5m sq ft. The performance is a further improvement on the business’ success over the previous three years.
 
The firm completed 255 deals in total across its Birmingham, Worcester and Stoke offices over the 12-month period, and agent Thomas Morley said that year-on-year performance was improving, as was the market in general.
 
“It’s no secret that like many other sectors, the commercial property business has been hit hard by the economic downturn, but our team has worked relentlessly to maintain excellent links and to utilise its knowledge of the market to ensure that we can still deliver and continue to meet our clients’ needs,” he said.
 
“Harris Lamb has consistently delivered an excellent performance, resulting in the business being named as the region’s most active agent for the sixth year running, a winning streak we aim to continue.
 
“The figures are gradually improving each year, and with confidence returning to the building sector, all signs are positive for 2014.”

In 2012, the business transacted approximately 4.1m sq ft, while in 2011, the figure was 3.6m sq ft.

“Harris Lamb have got good reason to be positive looking forward to 2014. Over the past three years we have seen a consistent increase in the amount of square footage transacted. This demonstrates a change in market sentiment where occupier confidence is returning which is yielding an increase in take up across the commercial sector,” added Morley.
 
He said 2014 was already looking very positive, with the firm agreeing terms for occupiers VAX and Freeman for their 235,000 sq ft and 175,000 sq ft brand new design and build facilities.

“With a number of significant other developments already in the pipeline for 2014, we’re confident that business, and the sector as a whole, will continue to strengthen,” he added.
