Dunlop Systems makes the move to Prologis Park

DUNLOP Systems and Components is moving into a new purpose-built 60,000 sq ft manufacturing facility on a five acre site at Prologis Park Coventry.

Terms have not been disclosed.

The unit, which has achieved an EPC ‘A’ 21 rating and BREEAM 2011 ‘very good’ accreditation, is said by the firm to be one of the most environmentally-friendly manufacturing buildings in the West Midlands.

Mick Canham, project manager at Dunlop Systems and Components, said: “This new facility will help us to develop our business and we look forward to a long-term future in Coventry.

“Dunlop opened its first factory in the city in 1890 and we have occupied our current site since 1919, so we are delighted that we now have a modern, energy-efficient building with plenty of expansion room.”

Dunlop Systems and Components was formed in 2007 as a management buy-out of the Dunlop Coventry suspension division factory. Specialising in the design and manufacture of advanced electronic control systems and air suspension components for the automotive and ancillary industries, the company currently employs 75 people.

Its new building and land are held in a Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) administered by Suffolk Life Annuities on behalf of 42 employees of Dunlop Systems and Components and then leased back to the company.

James Wright, vice president at Prologis, said:  “It is very good news that Dunlop Systems and Components are moving to Prologis Park Coventry.

“The park is developing into a thriving business community that is making a significant contribution to the regeneration of the north Coventry area.”

Dunlop Systems and Components anticipates that the new building will be fully operational by the end of April.
