Warwickshire takes the high tech approach to boosting cricketers’ performance

WARWICKSHIRE County Cricket Club has turned to an innovative company in Sutton Coldfield to help analyse the performance of its players.

The Edgbaston club has signed a new agreement with Quintic Consultancy which sees the firm become the club’s first official Sports Performance Analysis Partner.

Warwickshire is also the first of the 18 first class counties to install a Quintic six-synchronised high-speed camera system for use in its indoor cricket centre. The machine is capable of assessing the sports biomechanics of a player and analyse performance.

Dougie Brown, Director of Cricket at Warwickshire CCC, said: “The partnership with Quintic will ensure we will have the most advanced analysis capabilities in county cricket, which will bring great benefits to the coaching team.

“We’re constantly looking at innovative new products and services that can benefit the Warwickshire squad and potentially enhance performance. The partnership with Quintic is a great example of this and we look forward to working with their team.”

Quintic has installed its equipment in one lane of the Edgbaston Indoor Centre, which will be specifically branded as the Quintic Performance Analysis Lane. The lane will be used by Warwickshire players of all levels and key aspects of their game analysed using six synchronised cameras. Trained members of the club’s coaching team will use this information to help enhance performance and help minimise injury.

Teams and players of all abilities will be able to have their own action analysed by specially trained staff at the indoor school. In the near future the club is also hoping to offer this unique facility to its affiliated cricket clubs, and other sport organisations.

Dr Paul Hurrion, Managing Director at Quintic, said: “We have specialised in the field of Biomechanics Analysis Software and Sports Biomechanics Consultancy for nearly 20 years and work with a wide range of sporting and none sporting organisations.

“We are proud of our strong and long standing relationships with all our cricketing clients with many aspects of our software being designed to meet their specific analysis requirements – clients include the International Cricket Council, England and Wales Cricket Board and many world and county teams.

“Our new partnership with Warwickshire is the first of its kind and we’re thrilled to be working with one of the leading county cricket clubs in the country to help take the biomechanical analysis of all aspects of their game to the next level.”
