Pettigrew steps up to National Grid board

UTILITY National Grid has announced the appointment of John Pettigrew, UK Chief Operating Officer, as an Executive Director. The appointment takes effect from April 1.

Pettigrew will continue to be responsible for the UK Transmission Owner and UK Gas Distribution businesses of National Grid.

Originally joining the company as graduate, during his 23 year career with National Grid, Pettigrew has led UK Gas Distribution and spent time in the US as Chief Operating Officer of the Electricity Distribution and Generation businesses. Prior to that he held various senior management roles including Director of Asset Management and Director of Engineering Services within UK Transmission. He has been a member of the Executive Committee since July 2012.

Cooper bows out of Castings subsidiary

BROWNHILLS-based engineering group Castings has announced that Graham Cooper, managing director at subsidiary company William Lee Ltd is to retire from the business.

Cooper, who has given notice of his intention to step down, will retire from the group board at the end of September.

Carillion chairman designative steps down from Clarkson

PHILIP Green, Senior Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman Designate of Carillion plc, will step down both as Chairman and as a Director of Clarkson in May.  
 
The former United Utilities boss joined the board of Wolverhampton-based Carillion as senior independent non-executive director in April 2011.

Prior to his role as chief executive of United Utilities Group, the UK’s largest listed water business. Green served as chief executive of Royal P&O Nedlloyd until its acquisition by AP Moller-Maersk, as a director and chief operating officer at Reuters Group and as chief operating officer at DHL for Europe and Africa.
