Real estate advisor expands with 30 new staff and graduate trainees

REAL estate advisor DTZ continues to expand its Birmingham-based team with 30 new appointments over the past three months.
Of the new cohort, 16 have joined the firm’s expanding corporate real estate management team after it was awarded a contract to manage the entire UK property portfolio for Barclays’ global retail banking arm earlier this year.
These appointments include new financial controller Ruan Clemmitt, financial process manager Martin Hurley, senior surveyors Philip Reynolds and Asha Kumari and surveyor Lisa Codling.
William Clarke joins the portfolio asset management team as surveyor, from property consultants Edward Symmons, and will be working on the ING property income industrial portfolio.
The valuation team has also grown with the appointments of surveyors Paul Tarrant, Peter Carroll and James Carney – the latter from Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
Ned Jones has joined the Birmingham investment team as associate director, having previously been part of DTZ’s valuation and landlord and tenant team.
Jon Leedham, regional managing director at DTZ in Birmingham, said: “We are delighted to welcome the new members of these teams.
“The new appointments will enable us to further strengthen our position in the market and ensure we continue to provide excellent service to our clients.”
Elsewhere, DTZ has also recruited its next generation of high fliers with a 2010 intake of 55 graduate trainees.
This is a stark rise on last year when it took on just five – a company spokeswoman said this was dictated by the needs of the business rather than budgeting issues – and in 2008 they appointed 28 trainees, three of which were based in Birmingham.
Elizabeth Inglis, James Orr and Alexis Shaw have joined the company’s corporate real estate management team, in Birmingham, and are three of 14 recruited in its regional offices.
A further 35 are now working in London and six Chinese nationals, who studied in the UK, are being employed in Hong Kong and China.
They will all undergo a two-year training programme working across various departments.
In addition to the graduates, the Birmingham office has also welcomed Tom Burn and Thomas Graham as graduate surveyors.
