De Marco strengthens Leamington team
DE MARCO Solicitors has strengthened its presence in Leamington with the appointment of two new solicitors.
The firm has taken on Stuart Skelly and Katy Morgan Smith, who both live in the town, to support demand for its employment and business law team.
Skelly is a specialist in intellectual property, media, IT and commercial law, while Ms Morgan Smith has more than eight years experience in employment law.
De Marco Solicitors has invested heavily in cloud-based technology to enable its lawyers to work remotely from any location, and have access to virtual offices with meeting facilities including Clarendon Place in Leamington, and a central hub at Electric Wharf in Sandy Lane, Coventry.
Sandra Garlick, principal of De Marco Solicitors, said: “Both Stuart and Katy have a wealth of specialist experience and contacts in the Leamington area which will enable us to expand in the town and surrounding south Warwickshire.
“I share their background of having worked in a different field before entering the legal profession and believe that broader experience offers a greater insight for businesses, particularly into the commercial world which is rare among lawyers.”
Lodders lands Stratford Town Trust tender
LODDERS Solicitors has won a competitive tender to provide legal services for Stratford Town Trust.
Stratford Town Trust is a grant-giving charity based in Stratford-upon-Avon which is dedicated to supporting local people and community projects.
Trust chief executive Helen Munro said: “We provide funding for activities which improve the quality of life for people living in the town.”
Since 2001 the Trust has given out around £1m each year to local causes, community projects and initiatives.
The tender to provide legal services covering charitable, corporate and employment law was won by a Lodders team including partners Mark Lewis (pictured) and Steven Baker and solicitor Amrit Rama.
Lewis, who heads Lodders’ charities and not-for-profit team, said: “This is a growing area of work for Lodders and we intend to build on this latest new business win.
“We already provide legal services to a number of charities and not-for-profit organisations including Warwickshire Association for the Blind, Imagineering, Royal Association of British Dairy Farms and are actively tendering for a number of other projects in this sector.”
