City of Wolverhampton College recruits 20 apprentices

THE City of Wolverhampton College is recruiting 20 apprentices to work in a range of its departments to give young people the opportunity to kick start their careers and earn while they learn.

The apprentices will work in departments such as estates, student services and technology. These are spread across its four sites at Paget Road in Compton, Wellington Road in Bilston and Metro One in Wolverhampton city centre, as well as at its campus and Polymer Training & Innovation Centre at Stafford Park in Telford.

The apprentices will be employed as members of staff and will combine on-the-job training with studying for a relevant work-related qualification at the college.

Recruitment for the scheme closes on June 20. Successful applicants will start in post at the end of July and will begin their qualifications at the start of the new college term in September.

The college is a leading provider of apprenticeship training and as well as recruiting its own apprentices, also supports over 800 young people working with a range of employers across the West Midlands.

Claire Boliver, deputy principal of the college, said: “We are delighted to be recruiting our own apprentices and giving young people the opportunity to join the college and gain high quality work-related skills and qualifications which will lead to great careers in the future.

“As a significant employer in the city, we recognise the need to offer good quality training opportunities in order to improve the life chances of young people and support the college’s continued growth through the development of the apprentices’ skills.”
