Coventry City fans offer to take control of the club and move it back to the Ricoh

A GROUP of Coventry City supporters, supported by local businessmen, has made a bid to take over the club, according to reports.

The Coventry Telegraph reports that the Keep Cov in Cov supporters group – bankrolled by a number of unnamed businessmen – is also making a separate offer which would allow the Sky Blues to start next season at the Ricoh Arena.

The group has made its offer by letter to current owner Sisu.

The second part of the offer is for the group to pay the club’s rent and match day costs at the Ricoh Arena for the next three seasons.

This would bring the Sky Blues back to Coventry and end an impasses caused by a  bitter dispute between the club’s owner and the owners of the Ricoh which meant the club played its home games at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Arena last season.

According to the newspaper, the KCIC group says it would only require the club to look at reimbursing them when attendances at the Ricoh were above 5,000 – more than double the average attendance at Sixfields last season.
