The Legal 500 – Law firms enjoy the accolades

WEST Midlands law firms which have been praised in this year’s Legal 500 guide have been quick to explain the secrets of their success.
The annual guide – the industry’s Bible – was published yesterday and heaped praise on law firms in the regions.
Band Hatton Button was described as the leading and most diverse firm in Coventry and listed in eight categories.
In this year’s listings, the company was recognised for its work in commercial property, corporate commercial, commercial litigation, charities, personal tax, trusts and probate, education, debt recovery and family.
Band Hatton Button’s work in commercial litigation was also singled out for praise having recently won a Court of Appeal restrictive covenant case involving multiple defendants. Litigation partner Jonathan Wilby was also recommended.
Mark Moseley, the firm’s managing director at Band Hatton Button, said: “It is the second year that we have been recognised in a record of eight categories which only helps to highlight the broad spectrum of expertise we are able to offer our clients.”
“The Legal 500 lists the top law firms in the UK and to have gained this level of industry recognition is credit to the hard work and dedication of the whole team.”
Regional law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys also won Legal 500 accolades, achieving top tier status in four practice areas: corporate and commercial, crime, fraud and licensing (licensing), dispute resolution (commercial litigation), and private client (family).
Rod Thomas, Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ managing partner and head of corporate and banking said: “In the past year, Harrison Clark Rickerby’s teams, achievements and geographical presence have gone from strength to strength.
“It is therefore immensely pleasing to have the quality of our work recognised so extensively in the Legal 500; including several special mentions for our work in individual market sectors.”
Reflecting on her firm’s successful year, meanwhile. Caroline Coates, executive partner for DWF in Birmingham, said: “The last 12 months have seen DWF make a number of significant investments across the UK, including the appointment of 39 senior lateral hires and a £12m investment in technology, which have enabled us to strengthen the breadth and depth of our offering and further support clients across our chosen sectors.
“These results are testament to the hard work and commitment of our people to continually go further for clients and build upon the firm being independently ranked ahead of all top 20 law firms for quality of legal advice earlier this year.”
