Food business expands after funding deal

A SHROPSHIRE-based food manufacturer has expanded operations after concluding a new funding deal.

Edgmond Foods, a specialist in the chilled and frozen products sector, has expanded its manufacturing capacity to cater for increased demand following significant funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

Established in 1990 by Nigel Payne, the family-run business employs over 100 people and produces chilled and frozen quiches, tarts and frittatas for retail and foodservice markets nationwide.

The new funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial has been used to purchase additional plant and equipment and provide further working capital.

The financing has also been used to lease additional office space to relocate the administrative offices to the manufacturing site at Audley Avenue Business Park in Newport.

Nigel Payne, managing director, Edgmond Foods, said: “Since its foundation, the business has gone from strength to strength. The expansion into new premises will allow us to increase output, concentrate on new markets and increase capacity across our quiche and tarts range, both of which have experienced significant growth.”

Peter Burton, Relationship Director, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “Edgmond Foods is known for its exceptional quality and is a well-managed business with a track record of strong, stable profitability and excellent cash generation.

“It also benefits from an established market position and a very experienced management team. Edgmond Foods is a true success story and a business Santander is delighted to support.”
