Former Bilston Leisure Centre site up for sale

THE site of the former Bilston Leisure Centre has been put on the market.

The 2.47 acre site on Proud’s Lane is being sold by Wolverhampton City Council.

Bilston Leisure Centre was opened in 1964 but demolished three years ago following the opening of the new £18.6m Bert Williams Leisure Centre in 2011.

Work has been on-going to clear the site ready for redevelopment.

Located two miles south east of Wolverhampton city centre, the site is situated within the Bilston Centre Regeneration area, which includes the mixed-use development, Bilston Urban Village.

The Village is one of the largest regeneration projects in the Black Country and has already benefited from a £45m investment in leisure and education facilities.

Property consultancy Bruton Knowles has been instructed to market the leisure centre site.

Matthew Kitson, an associate in the development team at Bruton Knowles, said: “Following the demolition of the leisure centre, the site at Proud’s Lane has now been completely cleared ready for development.

“The site sits within a popular residential area and is surrounded by a number of local amenities, including a primary school and health centre, making it a great opportunity for residential developers looking to invest in the area.”
