Global data specialist relocates headquarters to Birmingham city centre

Picton Property Income has secured a new tenant for Rum Runner Works in Birmingham’s city centre.

Kagool, a global data and analytics specialist, has entered into a ten-year lease agreement for 8,100 sq ft of space within the office building and will use this space as their HQ.

The firm will be joining Ricoh Digital, an existing technology occupant.

Once known as the renowned Rum Runner Nightclub of the 1980s, the building has undergone a redevelopment to maintain the period of the building whilst also providing workspace.

Dan Barlow, Group CEO at Kagool, adds: “We’re excited to move our HQ to Birmingham, the heart of the fastest growing tech region in the UK.  Birmingham offers a dynamic business environment, a diverse talent pool and strategic proximity to key partners and markets, positioning us for even greater success in the years ahead. The Rum Runner Works office is an amazing building which fits very well with our company.

“As Kagool embarks on this exciting new chapter, the company reaffirms its dedication to driving innovation, fostering talent, and creating value for all stakeholders. The move to Birmingham represents a strategic investment in the company’s future growth and success and the team can’t wait to try out the balcony when the weather improves!”

Picton was represented jointly by Savills and CBRE.

Ben Thacker, office agency director at Savills Birmingham, said: “Unique to this part of Birmingham, Rum Runner Works provides the ideal solution for occupiers looking for high-quality office space of character in a thriving and connected city centre location. The multiple external terraces with private outdoor spaces directly overlooking the Gas Street Canal Basin are highly appreciated by the existing tenants. We anticipate this demand to continue for the remaining space.”
