Recruiters target Warwick graduates ahead of those at Oxbridge

UNIVERSITY of Warwick students have been rated as the third most likely to be targeted by Britain’s graduate employers – ahead of those at both Oxford and Cambridge.

Warwick has risen four places from its position in last year’s High Fliers Research list. The university is consistently in the top 10 of this annual survey.

The most recent report declared that the five universities most-often targeted by Britain’s top graduate employers in 2014- 2015 were: Manchester, Nottingham, Warwick, Cambridge, and Oxford.

The report also notes increasing confidence in the graduate recruitment market.
It states: “The UK’s leading employers plan to expand their graduate recruitment even further in 2015 with 8.1% more entry-level vacancies than last year, the third consecutive year that graduate vacancies have increased.

“This substantial increase in graduate vacancies for 2015 takes graduate recruitment beyond the pre-recession peak in the graduate job market in 2007 and means that there will be more opportunities for this summer’s university-leavers than at any time in the last decade.”

Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Nigel Thrift said: “This is a testament to the high calibre of Warwick’s students and how they take full advantage of the experiences Warwick offers them as a university.”

Data company has designs on growth

A WEST Midlands design company is targeting additional growth as it moves into its second decade as a business.

Workspace Technology, a data centre design, build and management company, started life in a small rented office in Sutton Coldfield in 2004 and it has now achieved a turnover of £10m.

The company, established by managing director Roy Griffiths, now occupies a three-storey building in Emmanuel Court, Reddicroft, after buying the premises in 2010.

In April last year the company also opened its Birmingham Co-location Data Centre, called DC One, to provide co-location, hosting and disaster recovery services to the Midlands and surrounding areas.

“We launched the business to meet an increasing demand for specialist data centre design and build expertise,” said Griffiths.

“We have steadily grown over the years, starting with a just a handful of employees to owning our own multi-story head office building as well as opening a 200 rack modular co-location data centre facility.

“DC One is an exceptional next generation energy efficient and highly resilient modular data centre facility.”
