QualitySolicitors Talbots keeps latest appointments in the family

QUALITYSOLICITORS Talbots is targeting growth in the growth in the residential and commercial property markets with its latest appointment.

The firm, which hit a record £7.5m turnover in 2014, has signed up sisters-in-law Jagdeep Kitaure-Kandola and Lucky Mahal to support a division of the business that has experienced 15% growth in transactions in the last 12 months.

The duo have a combined 20 years’ experience working across the West Midlands property scene and have been involved in a number of significant deals, including a recent £1.3m residential purchase and instructing numerous lenders on strategic property deals.

They will now form part of a 15-strong team responsible for working with residential buyers and sellers, small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs), landlords and a number of multi-national firms with interests throughout the UK.

Martyn Morgan, Director at QualitySolicitors Talbots, said: “There is definitely a feeling of cautious optimism in both commercial and residential property with a slowly recovering economy triggering movement across both markets.

“Last year was very good for us and our ability to offer personal service and innovative solutions to client requirements saw us grow considerably and we needed to strengthen the team with dynamic, new young talent.

“Lucky and Jagdeep are well respected solicitors, share a passion for the Black Country and the West Midlands and have worked for firms that have also been part of the QualitySolicitors brand. They will bring a fresh approach to our company and have proven in their previous roles that they can deliver positive results for clients both large and small.”

He said with the pipeline of work the firm saw going into 2015, together with the expected increase in market activity, suggested the property division could grow by more than £1.5m this year.

Lucky Mahal will be responsible for increasing the firm’s presence in residential property, while her sister-in-law will focus on the commercial property sector, working on a varied caseload that ranges from owner managed businesses and SMEs to landlords with multiple properties and PLCs.

DBS Law strengthens employment department in Birmingham

The specialist in employment law has joined the firm’s Edmund Street office from Garner Canning Solicitors in Tamworth.
 
The move is part of an expansion in the department that will see new services and a fresh impetus into providing employment law services in the city.
 
The appointment is the latest in a string of new developments at the law firm, which announced at the start of the year that it had acquired an alternative business structure (ABS) licence from the Solicitors Regulation Authority and has begun piloting a new flexible working scheme for its staff.

Harrison Clark Rickerbys strengthens corporate team

Richard Wilkey, Partner and Head of Cheltenham Corporate, with senior associate, Rachael ReevesHARRISON Clark Rickerbys has appointed Rachael Reeves as a Senior Associate at the firm’s Cheltenham corporate department.
 
The hire has increased the department’s capability at a senior level. The 12-strong team now comprises three partners, six solicitors and three trainees.
 
Ms Reeves (right) deals with a range of corporate matters, typically helping entrepreneurial start-ups, growing family owned businesses and SME’s. Her work spans all sectors and she is particularly experienced in shareholder and equity arrangements, mergers, disposals and acquisitions and corporate restructuring.
 
She is also a member of the HCR equine team, advising on equine business matters.
