Shoosmiths raids SGH Martineau for well-known property lawyer

LAW firm Shoosmiths has boosted its property team with the appointment of real estate partner Kathy Toon, who joins from Birmingham rival SGH Martineau where she was head of retail.
 
Toon – who will be based in Shoosmiths’ Birmingham office – has more than 20 years’ experience in the legal profession including a spell heading up the local operation of Clarke Willmott and a period at DLA Piper.

At SGH Martineau she advised developer and retail clients on all aspects of real estate work. At Shoosmiths, Toon will advise clients on a range of real estate issues with particular focus on retail, development and portfolio management work.
 
Toon has been recognised in the Chambers & Partners legal directory as a ‘leader in her field’ since 2006. Most recently, the directory said she has a ‘tactical appreciation of a wide range of issues’, and has also been described by the directory as ‘highly regarded for her work on behalf of retail clients as well as investors and developers’.
