BHSF boosts OH position with second acquisition this year

BIRMINGHAM-based health insurance group BHSF has been on the acquisition trail again, this time extending its position in the occupational health sector.

The company has invested in the addition of Worcestershire-based M3 Occupational Health. It is the second such purchase by BHSF this year and the sixth since May 2012 as it looks to grow its occupational health division to provide nationwide coverage.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

M3, based in Pershore, provides occupational health services across the UK.  It does this using a large and widely-spread network of occupational health physicians.

The deal sees M3 managing director and founder, Dean Mortimer, join BHSF to support its business development plans.

Peter Maskell, BHSF Group Chief Executive, said: “M3 is highly-regarded and we are very pleased it is joining our growing occupational health business.  This gives us added credibility in the marketplace and further reach across the UK.  We are still looking to acquire further suitable businesses in order to achieve a truly nationwide OH service.”

The deal is not expected to generate any redundancies and M3 staff will in due course transfer to the head office of BHSF Occupational Health in Bromsgrove.

Besides the occupational health sector, the BHSF group consists of a health insurer and an insurance brokerage which offers a range of personal insurances, employee benefits and HR support services to 3,100 client organisations.  The company, which can trace its origins back to 1873, looks after health and personal accident insurances for around 400,000 people.
