M&S announces third West Midlands closure in a week

RETAILER Marks & Spencer has announced that it is to close its store within a store at Boundary Mill in Walsall.

The concession within the larger Boundary Mill retail outlet employs 21 people.

M&S at Boundary Mill is a clearance store and the retailer said that improved stock control means that it now needs fewer such outlet operations.

It follows the announcement earlier this week that it is to shut its shop at The Fort in Birmingham and its Simply Food store on the Startford Road in Shirley, Solihull.

No closure dates have yet been set.

Meanwhile Marks & Spencer will soon start work on the fit out of its new store at the Longbridge town centre scheme in Birmingham.

It is due to open later this year in time for the Christmas shopping period and some 350 jobs are expected to be created.

At 150,000 sq ft, the two–storey unit will be the Midlands’ largest M&S store.
