Superdream bring the top prize home
A TEAM from Midlands-based communications agency Superdream are celebrating after winning Global Radio’s Run For Home challenge.
The four-strong team were dropped at a secret location 100-miles away from the Genting Arena in Birmingham and tasked with making their way back home in the quickest time without spending any cash.
Aaron Jones, Natalie Harrigan, Luke Tuckey and Gary Lefevre from Superdream donned Baywatch fancy dress outfits and were taken to their start point in Sheffield. Using their powers of persuasion, the team were offered lifts from friendly locals and even free train tickets to make it back to Birmingham in two hours and 26 minutes – beating 120 other teams.
The Superdream team raised more than £1,000 for Global Radio’s Make Some Noise charity, a national charity that helps disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
Aaron Jones, senior media buyer at Superdream, said: “It was an amazing day and we were extremely lucky to have met some great people along the way who were more than happy to help.”
Hortons raises money for Heartlands
BIRMINGHAM property company Hortons’ Estate raised £5,700 for Ward 19, Heartlands Hospital, at its eight annual quiz for the local commercial property community.
Some 27 teams of five worked their way through nine rounds of questions at Penny Blacks, The Mailbox.
The quiz, dubbed ‘The School Exam From HEL’, included knowledge testers on music, maths, science, modern languages and history and culminated in a school disco ‘Dancing Queens’ round.
PMP Consultants took this year’s trophy, with the home team Hortons’ Estate taking second spot. Lambert Smith Hampton left with the wooden spoon.
The charity was chosen by Hortons’ staff after a colleague’s wife underwent successful treatment for breast cancer at Ward 19 last year.
The money will help fund medical equipment and improvements to help make patient stays more comfortable.
Raising the roof
THE Russell Roof Tiles sales team had just nine weeks to collectively lose 12st 7lbs in a bid to raise £600 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and they smashed it.
The team of 15, including the roof tile manufacturer’s boss, Andrew Hayward, lost a collective 13st 5lbs, 12lbs more than they’d hoped, raising money for one of the Burton-on-Trent company’s chosen special anniversary charities in the process.
They had been weighing themselves weekly and going into the office every third week to check and making sure the loss is sensible and controlled. Many took the opportunity to take up a new sport or just rekindle a love for a sport they once played. The team also came together to enjoy some friendly games at St. George’s Park.
Hayward said: “It’s always fantastic to get the team together to fundraise. Our weight loss has really benefited the whole sales team and it has been a great nine weeks burning off those extra pounds – I lost over a stone myself!”
