Wates on course to complete £15m fit-out of High Temperature Research Centre

THE £15m fit-out of the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce’s new High Temperature Research Centre in Coventry is under way.

Wates Construction is undertaking the project, which marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development of Ansty Park.

The work will see the contractor install specialist research and development equipment for advanced manufacturing as well as all mechanical and electrical systems. The project is set for completion in September.

Forming the second phase of the £60m HTRC development, the fit-out will see Wates continue its role as main contractor at the scheme following its completion and handover of the 5,800m² new-build project earlier in the summer.

Once complete, the HTRC will enable production-scale research and development for aerospace and other industrial sectors.

The centre sits alongside the Manufacturing Technology Centre’s (MTC) new £9m Aerospace Research Centre and the £14m Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre, both of which have been built by Wates.

Richard Scarrott, Business Unit Director, Wates Construction, Midlands, said: “Having recently completed the base-build, our team are very well placed to carry out the specialist interior installations at HTRC – a project that demands exceptional quality and meticulous logistical management.

“The growth of Ansty Park is a bold and ambitious masterplan and Wates is extremely proud to be playing such a huge part in the creation of what is fast becoming a central hub for science and innovation.”
