Engineering firm Arc flexes its muscles with £7.25m acquisition

ALVECHURCH-based Arc Specialist Engineering has bought EWS, a steel reinforcer business, from international door and window sector components supplier Tyman for £7.25m.

The Willenhall business was bought from Tyman’s UK and Ireland division ERA.

Tyman said the disposal is in line with Tyman’s strategy of focusing on the supply of high value added components to the door and window industry worldwide.  It said EWS’s products are not core to the group’s component portfolio

In the year ended 31 December 2014, EWS recorded revenue of £18.7m, underlying operating profit of £1.7m and had gross assets of approximately
£6.1m.

Arc CEO Andy Richardson said: “EWS is a great business and Arc is delighted to welcome its talented employees, customers and suppliers. We look forward to developing the business further with a strong focus on customer service and further investment in the people, processes, products and technology at EWS.” 

Louis Eperjesi, Tyman chief executive officer, said: “We are pleased to have completed the disposal of EWS, in line with our strategy of focusing on our portfolio of value added door and window components.”

Birmingham-based advisory firm Clearwater International acted as adviser to ERA on the disposal. Black Country law firm Higgs & Sons advised Arc. 

Arc Specialist Engineering was founded in 2013 after the buyout of Metalrax. which had been placed into administration.
