J S Wright wins £20m London contract

BIRMINGHAM-based mechanical services specialist J S Wright has clinched a record-breaking £20m contract to help complete the renaissance of London’s South Bank.
The company, which has its headquarters in Aston and offices in Bristol and London, is to fit out Barratt London’s Nine Elms Point development.
The highest value project in J S Wright’s 125-year history involves equipping 645 homes, made up of one-bed studios and one to four-bed apartments and penthouses within seven metallic buildings that will form part of a new central London district.
Designed to reflect the site’s history as a foundry, the development includes a 37-storey tower and a new Sainsbury’s superstore.
Barratt London, which is working in joint venture with Sainsbury’s, has commissioned J S Wright as lead works co-ordinator to provide under floor heating and ventilation services for all the apartments including – where appropriate – comfort cooling by fan coil units.
J S Wright will also provide hot and cold water services, including boosted cold water distribution, sanitary ware, soil and waste services, refuse chutes, and domestic sprinklers for all the properties, as well as install a specialist sprinkler system for the Sainsbury’s car park.
Completion of the 50-month project is scheduled for October 2019.
Nine Elms Point is the fifth contract that J S Wright has been awarded by Barratt London over the past three years and will bring to more than 1,700 the number of homes that it will have equipped for the developer.
Located next to the future Nine Elms underground station, Nine Elms Point is part of the Nine Elms regeneration area which extends alongside the Thames from Chelsea Bridge to Lambeth Bridge via East Battersea, Vauxhall and the Albert Embankment.
Marcus Aniol, managing director of J S Wright, said: “Nine Elms Point takes J S Wright into an exciting new era in terms of the scale and value of projects for which we are being commissioned.
“Our success results from the outstanding skills, dedication and commitment shown by all our people and the excellent working relationships that we have built up with leading developers.”
Founded in 1890, J S Wright specialises in the design and installation of mechanical services for the hotel, residential, social housing, student accommodation, leisure and commercial sectors.
