Industry accreditation set to increase growth for Solihull firm

A SOLIHULL team of building surveyors and polymer chemists, who introduced a new coating system for asbestos roofs, have seen their efforts rewarded with a new industry accreditation.

Liquasil, which manufactures a range of innovative polymer-based, liquid roofing systems, has been awarded the accreditation from the British Board of Agrément (BBA) for its unique Asbestoseal system.

The UK’s only BBA approved system of its kind, the coating system is used for treating problems associated with aging asbestos roofs. It is available in solvent and solvent-free versions, carries a 20 year manufacturer’s product warranty and has a life-expectancy in excess of 100 years.

To date, the system has been installed on over 50,000m² of commercial roofing nationwide, with demand expected to grow considerably following the BBA endorsement.

BBA certification is seen as one of the only ways that new products or systems can gain quick acceptance in the UK construction market. Only products and systems that have passed a series of comprehensive assessments, including laboratory tests, on-site evaluations, quality management checks and inspections of production are awarded an Agrément Certificate.

Robert Street, director of Liquasil, said: “As a relatively modest player in a highly competitive marketplace, it is a major coup to be officially recognised as the UK’s best performing asbestos roof coating system.

“These are certainly exciting times for our business. Since forming in February 2013 we have experienced steady, year on year growth and taken on new staff to meet growing demand for our products.

“We fully expect Asbestoseal  to gain in popularity on the back of this sought-after endorsement.”
