Wolverhampton businesses get superfast broadband help

MORE than 120 businesses in Wolverhampton have taken advantage of vouchers of up to £3,000 to boost their broadband connectivity.

The Government’s Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme was designed to help SMEs, amongst others, move into a faster digital market via superfast broadband.

The scheme has helped a variety of Wolverhampton businesses, including SBS Trailers, one of the largest boat trailer manufacturers in the country.

Andy Wyer, SBS Trailers sales director, said: “We were looking to upgrade our broadband connection and these vouchers came along at just the right time.

“Our connection was extremely slow before but the new band width has speeded things up considerably and means the business can run more efficiently.

“We are now also able to take advantage of more of the Cloud-based options available.”

Councillor John Reynolds, City of Wolverhampton Council cabinet member for city economy, said: “Upgrading to super-fast broadband helps future-proof businesses for the digital challenges of tomorrow and it is great news so many Wolverhampton businesses have taken advantage of this scheme.

“A super-fast internet connection can make the world of difference to businesses, enabling them to grow and access new markets through better communication with customers and suppliers, increase productivity and improve customer service through faster upload and download speeds.”

The national initiative, which has now allocated all of the £40m available funding, meant businesses were able to use their voucher to get a broadband connection from a wide variety of suppliers.
