O’Brien Contractors shows its support for local charity

LEAMINGTON Spa-based civil engineering and groundworks specialist O’Brien Contractors has supported Warwick Myton Hospice in giving the centre a makeover.

Through its patient and family support services, the Coventry and Warwickshire-based charity provides vital assistance to 1,000 patients and their families each year, from hospices in Warwick, Rugby and Coventry.

The initiative has presented O’Brien with the opportunity to give back to the community by donating members of staff to decorate sections of the Myton Hospice in Warwick.

Tony Mitchell, operations manager, said: “The specialist care Myton Hospice gives to people who are terminally ill is magnificent. We were delighted to have the opportunity to help maintain one of their first-class facilities, helping ensure their patients have a comfortable environment to be cared in.”

George Green teams up with local school for Christmas tree festival

BLACK Country law firm George Green has teamed up with Corngreaves Academy to enable the school to participate in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Johns Church in Dudley Wood.

All trees entered in the festival have a theme.

This year Congreaves Academy chose the theme of Christmas around the world. With the news focusing heavily on events in different countries, the school wanted to look at how other countries celebrated Christmas to find out what their traditions are and the stories they share.

Each class chose a country to research and then made a decoration to represent it. The countries which were chosen were China, Sweden, Mexico, America, Germany and Australia.

The tree features hand-made decorations made by children from all year groups and it can be seen between the 11th to 13th December at St John’s Church, Dudley Wood Road along with over 20 other trees entered by organisations from across the local community.

Alex-Jayne Lowe, commercial property partner at George Green, said: “George Green is delighted to support Corngreaves Academy and the Christmas Tree Festival again this year. We hope to support further local community projects in the future.”

RSM puts down roots in Birmingham in time for Christmas

STAFF from accountancy firm RSM have been ‘branching out’ and making Birmingham greener by planting more than 500 trees in support of the national charity Trees for Cities.

Some 600 saplings were planted by 14 staff at one of three sites across the Sutton Coldfield area where a total of 5,000 trees were planted throughout December.

Trees for Cities is an independent charity, which inspires people to plant and love trees in cities worldwide.

Simon Hart, regional managing partner for RSM in the Midlands said: “The work Trees for Cities does is essential to maintaining the local woodlands for future generations. As a firm that is an integral part of the local business community, I am delighted that we’ve been able to demonstrate our commitment to the local community through this important initiative.”
