Offsite construction is focus of two-day industry event

A TWO-DAY event about the opportunities for offsite construction in the housing sector is being held in Birmingham later this month.
Offsite construction is being seen by some people in the industry as the only way to respond to the demand for new housing. Moving the construction of houses into factories can result in a more efficient and economical build process.
The high demand is encouraging innovative technologies to come to the fore which could ultimately change the norm which governs the ways new homes are built.
Offsite construction is suited to projects where the method does not depend upon environmental factors and offers a faster return on investment. The offsite method also facilitates the building of homes that are airtight, energy efficient and environmentally sustainable, which is particularly attractive to housing associations.
Housing Forum’s chief executive Shelagh Grant and Urban Splash director Tom Bloxham are among the industry figures speaking at Explore Offsite.
Explore Offsite is at the National Exhibition Centre on March 23-24. To book tickets or enquire about exhibitor opportunities, visit http://www.exploreoffsite.co.uk/ or call 01743 290001.
