Top business role for EY senior partner

THE senior partner of EY in the Midlands, Sara Fowler, has been announced as the new chair of the CBI in the West Midlands.

Ms Fowler succeeds Mike Wright, Executive Director at Jaguar Land Rover, who has completed his two-year tenure.

The CBI said Ms Fowler, an active member of the council since 2011, was an ideal successor as she possessed a strong passion for the economic issues affecting businesses in the region.

She is also an advocate of improving skills through education and of the need to increase diversity in the workplace.

Ms Fowler said: “I’m delighted to be taking on the role as chair of CBI in the West Midlands, and look forward to working closely with the Regional Council and senior business leaders to reinforce CBI’s position as the voice of business in the West Midlands.

“The West Midlands is a diverse and thriving economy, with a vibrant entrepreneurial culture that is firmly established as an ideal destination for start-up companies and global multinationals alike, with record levels of inward investment seen across the region over the past decade.

“In a competitive global economy, we will be championing Midlands businesses to help them flourish and grow.”

Richard Butler, regional chairman of the CBI in the West Midlands, said: “I really look forward to working in with Sara in her capacity as CBI Regional Chair over the next two years. Businesses continue to face many challenges and working in partnership with Sara we need to ensure that the voice of West Midlands business is clearly heard in Whitehall.”
