Barratt invests millions in twin Staffordshire developments

HOUSEBUILDER Barratt Homes West Midlands has revealed plans for a multi-million pound investment in Staffordshire.

The company has announced plans to build two new developments in the county – in Rugeley and Cannock.

Between them the schemes will create 322 new homes and underpin 644 jobs, many of them local tradespeople employed on the twin sites.

The new sites join existing developments Bilberrry Chase, also in Cannock, and Yarnfield Park in Yarnfield, near Stone.

Graydon Worthing, Sales Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “The new sites we are opening will provide more choice for local buyers. It is also good news for the local economy as in addition to the local construction jobs underpinned by building the new homes, the local people who move into the new housing will also spend locally. This means a significant boost for local retailers as well. It’s exactly what this area needs.”

Barratt said the expansion plans followed a strong recovery in the housing market with the success of initiatives such as the Help to Buy scheme, which has helped to get first time buyers onto the property ladder.

“Over the last year we have also seen the hugely successful continuation of Help to Buy which means first time buyers and those moving up the housing ladder can get moving with just a 5% deposit, a 20% equity loan and a 75% mortgage.”
