£50m hotel opens to guests for the first time

BIRMINGHAM’s newest hotel opens its doors to guests for the first time today.

The £50m four-star Park Regis Birmingham is the brand’s first hotel operation in Europe.

The hotel, which has helped to create 150 new jobs, is based in the former Auchinleck House, a 1960s office block at Five Ways which has undergone a complete makeover.

The hotel includes 253 bedrooms, two junior suites and the largest presidential suite in the city.

It also hosts two new restaurants – its fourth floor ‘1565’ restaurant and bar will feature signature dishes, grills and classics, as well as be home to one of the city’s largest outdoor terrace spaces. Rofuto, its 16th floor Japanese eaterie, is a concept by former Ivy head chef Des McDonald. At a height of 137 ft from the ground, Rofuto, together with its accompanying cocktail lounge and Sake bar ‘Kurabu’ will provide panoramic views across the city.

The hotel, which is deliberately targeting the business community, also boasts an executive level complete with conference and meeting spaces and a business lounge with check-in facilities.

In addition, it is also home to the ‘Shakina’ Urban Dry Spa, offering indulgent treatments in its state of the art therapy rooms, as well as a gym for hotel residents.
