Appointments: Freeths; Catalyst Corporate Finance; Wright Hassall

FREETHS has promoted Perveen Akhter to partner in its construction team, a year after she joined the law firm from SGH Martineau.

Ms Akhter specialises in non-contentious building procurement and renewable energy products and will continue to oversee the firm’s portfolio of construction clients in Birmingham.

Ateeq Ahmed has also been promoted, becoming a director in the corporate team after four years with the firm, although he began his career with a two-year stint with Freethcartwright in Nottingham.

Richard Beverley, managing partner at Freeths in Birmingham, said: “Our Birmingham office is experiencing a period of substantial growth and while this means we’re bringing a lot of new people to the firm, we’re still committed to developing the talented individuals already here.“

Freeths moved its growing team to new offices at The Colmore Building in November last year.

CATALYST Corporate Finance has appointed Martin Cordey as a consultant to support the team’s business development strategy with a particular focus on the Midlands region.

Mr Cordey recently left Lloyds Bank after a 30-year career rising to head its acquisition finance team in Birmingham, where he supported many businesses including a number of Catalyst’s clients.

LAW firm Wright Hassall has bolstered its employment law team with the appointment of Prisca Bradley as partner.

Ms Bradley joins the Leamington-based firm from Darbys Solicitors in Oxford, where she spent 10 years having trained with the firm before being promoted to partner and head of the employment team.

She said: “I have joined Wright Hassall at an exciting time. There are plans for the firm to grow significantly over the next few years and I look forward to assisting with these strategic development and growth plans.”
