Appointments: DAC Beachcroft; Chrysalis Solmotive; EY

LAW firm DAC Beachcroft has appointed Claire Laver as a partner in its claims solutions group, adding to its counter fraud team in Birmingham.

She joined the firm after nine years at BLM where she was also a partner and had previously led a specialist Fraud Ring team.

CSG national head of counter fraud Catherine Burt said: “Claire is held in very high regard by her clients and her expertise will strengthen our fraud offering to insurers.

“We have plans to continue to grow the Birmingham office and the continuing addition of talent like Claire will be key to meeting these ambitions.”

A FAST-GROWING company that provides customer retention software to major car manufacturers, finance companies and dealerships in the automotive sector has appointed a new managing director.

Nigel Potter has taken charge of Stourbridge-based Chrysalis Solmotive, to lead on its strategy of doubling turnover this year.

Earlier this year Chrysalis secured a £700,000 investment from venture capital provider Finance Birmingham. It currently employs 20 staff and plans to create more than 30 jobs in 2016.

Mr Potter said: “Chrysalis is a hugely successful business with a reputation for delivering customer retention results for someof the biggest automotive names across the globe. At a time when customer service and ROI are both so vital in our industry, we have a real opportunity to unlock further potential in its product and offering to help its clients’ bottom line, in turn raising its profile and value.”

He was previously managing director of IT consultancy firm i4 Associates and held senior commercial roles at healthcare technology businesses Map of Medicine and ScriptSwitch. Earlier in his career, he spent 15 years in the automotive sector.

Jolyon Barker, CEO of Chrysalis Retail Science, Global, added: “Nigel’s wealth of experience in the both the automotive and IT sectors is the perfect fit for Chrysalis and will help him to provide real added value for clients and our business.”

EY has appointed James Hemphill as a director within the firm’s people advisory services team, which includes tax and advisory.

Mr Hemphill joins from Grant Thornton, where he spent four years. He has also previously worked at Big Four firms Deloitte and PwC.

EY said his appointment is part of a strategic drive to grow its Midlands practice, which has seen 14% increase in headcount over the past 12 months and now has nearly 1,000 people based in its Birmingham office at Colmore Square.

Mr Hemphill said: “I’m really keen to help David Paul and the team here in Birmingham to build on the valuable support they currently provide to businesses across the Midlands, with a specific focus on the small and mid-market, which continues to be the ‘engine of growth’ in the UK economy.”
