New look for Birmingham business community favourite

A FAVOURITE haunt among Birmingham’s business community has unveiled its new look.

The former Metro Bar and Grill in Cornwall Street was taken over by property entrepreneur Paul Bassi and Pawan Kenth’s Brandasia Group last year.

Following a £250,000 makeover, the venue has been relaunched as Zen Metro – complete with a new Thai menu.

To reflect the change in menu, the 100-seater venue has been transformed into a sophisticated Thai restaurant complete with a huge blossom tree centrepiece, intended to emulate a luxurious south-eastern vibe.

The plan is that guest get the best of both worlds by enjoying Metro by Day and Zen by Night.

There is also a glassed private dining room that seats up to 20 people.

The venue is planned as the sister restaurant to award winning Asha’s on Newhall Street, where Jaimon George is the man at the helm.

The menu for Zen Metro has been created by head chef Shailender Kothiyal – who has spent several years in Thailand learning the cuisine – and features an eclectic range of traditional and modern Thai dishes.

Pawan Kenth said: “Metro has always been immensely popular with property, banking and legal professionals. Great deals have been done here over the past 20 years and we want to continue to make the place great.

“Birmingham’s hospitality landscape is always changing but Zen Metro will always be part of that and I know our regulars will be proud of how Zen Metro looks today.”
