Oh yes it has…curtain comes down on Birmingham panto

A MAJOR event on Birmingham’s festive entertainment programme has been cancelled.

The Barclaycard Arena said the production of Snow White, dubbed the ‘World’s Biggest Pantomime’, had had to be postponed due to the illness of its producer, Jon Conway.

The panto had been scheduled to play five performances at the arena between December 19-22.

A statement by the show’s production company, Arena Panto Ltd, said: “Due to recent illness, Jon Conway is regretfully unable to fulfil his role of producer for Snow White – The World’s Biggest Pantomime.

“As the creative force of the project, plus scriptwriter and show director as well as executive producer, Conway has been fundamental to every aspect of the show, therefore, the tough decision has been made to postpone the event 12 months to December 2017.

“Further details regarding the 2017 performances and the cast will be announced later this year.”

TV star Rylan Clark-Neal, who was due to appear as the Scary Queen’s henchman added: “Mel B and Vincent and Flavia join me in sending our best wishes to Jon and his family and wish him a speedy recovery.  I hope we all get to work together in the near future and put on a great show for everyone to see.”

The arena said tickets already purchased would be valid for the new dates when announced; however, if customers required a refund they should contact their point of purchase.
