LoveBrum announces community winner of monthly £2,000 prize

Birmingham PHAB Camps has been awarded £2,000 from charity LoveBrum after it polled the most votes in the monthly competition.
LoveBrum, a registered charity that aims to support hard-to-reach projects across the city that are often volunteer led, selects three good causes around one theme and asks its members to vote for one of the organisations.
The theme for August was community and Birmingham PHAB Camps went up against Breaking the Silence and Balsall Heath Forum in the members’ vote.
Birmingham PHAB Camps isa charity that was founded in 1967 by Birmingham student Simon Wandsworth, who wanted to help integrate local children who had a range of disabilities with their non-disabled peers. The charity is operated entirely by unpaid volunteers and they now offer up to eight holidays every year for over 100 children and young people.
The charity is going to use the money from LoveBrum to help towards the cost of their 50th birthday party celebrations in September 2017. The party will help Birmingham PHAB Camps to say thank you to all their funders, schools and supporters and the £2,000 will ensure that all children and their families can attend the event, which will have a variety of activities, entertainment and a disco.
The other shortlisted organisations
Breaking the Silence
A project raising awareness around the untold impact of domestic abuse, forced marriages & human trafficking.
Balsall Heath Forum
A forum of residents that help improve the community. Their aim is to empower local residents by promoting and encouraging neighbourhood associations.
