Appointments: Cattaneo; Orbis Partners; Nicklin

CORPORATE finance advisory firm Cattaneo has appointed David Newton as a director to strengthen its public company advisory team.
Mr Newton qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young before embarking on a 15-year career in investment banking, corporate stockbroking and financial regulation in the City of London with Williams de Broë, Seymour Pierce, XCAP Securities and the UK Listing Authority. David has held senior positions in industry, including as CEO of VANE Minerals.

He is an extremely versatile and well-rounded corporate financier, with valuable experience gained as a regulator and in industry internationally and across a range of sectors.”
Cattaneo advises on both private and public transactions and has recently worked on the purchase of QTR Transport by Palletforce and the sale of Glide to CableCom Networking.

THE former head of PKF’s Birmingham office, Malcolm Cook, has joined Orbis Partners to head up the corporate finance firm’s acquisition support and due diligence team.
Mr Cook has more than 20 years’ experience in acquisition support and due diligence, having been a partner at PKF since 1989. He became Birmingham office managing partner until BDO’s takeover in 2013.
He remained a partner at BDO until his retirement earlier this year.
Mr Cook said: “Orbis has always been a major player in the market and I am delighted to be joining this highly regarded and successful team.”

NICKLIN Business Advisors, which has offices in Halesowen and Worcester, has appointed a new manager in its tax department.
Rebecca Wooldridge joins the chartered accountancy firm, having developed a wide range of expertise during her 13-year career.
She Wooldridge said: “I am very pleased to have joined the Nicklins team and I am already working with our owner manged business clients on a variety of tax-related matters.”
