Accountancy group completes second merger in as many days

MIDLANDS accountancy group Baldwins has completed its second merger in as many days in a new move that grows its presence in the south west.

Earlier this week, the Walsall-headquartered firm joined forces with Shropshire-based chartered accountants Tranter Lowe, which has offices in Telford and Wellington.

It has now expanded its presence in Gloucester after joining forces with another of the town’s chartered accountants.

Baldwins already has an office in Gloucester – the result of a merger with Berkeley Hamiliton in November last year – but it has now merged with Bartlett Kershaw Trott to expand its offering to customers in the area.

The move will see staff from the Bartlett Kershaw Trott office on Great Western Road move round the corner to the Baldwins Berkley Hamilton office.

John Baldwin, director at Baldwins, said this acquisition will enable businesses in the region to have access to a wider range of services.

He said: “Baldwins Berkeley Hamilton has given us an exceptional start in Gloucester with their invaluable knowledge and expertise in what is a thriving business community.

“We now have the confidence to further invest in the area with the acquisition of Bartlett Kershaw Trott, which has a large client base of family-owned businesses.

“By working together, more businesses in the area will be able to receive new services across tax, banking, corporate finance and payroll. We are looking to invest further in the area in the coming months which underlines our faith in the local economy.”

James Bartlett, a partner at Bartlett Kershaw Trott, said the move would benefit customers.

“This merger strengthens the solid reputation and expertise our local staff have built up over the years in accounting, taxation, business advice and support services, and will allow us to take our firm to the next level,” he said.
