Fire destroys large factory unit on business park

FIREFIGHTERS from across North Worcestershire were drafted in to deal with a large blaze at an industrial estate on the outskirts of Bromsgrove.

At its height, more than 70 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze, which broke out in a factory unit on the Saxon Business Park in Stoke Prior, shortly before 7pm last night.

The 220m² unit is thought to belong to a firm involved in wax recycling. It has been all but destroyed by the fire.

The firefighting operation was designed to restrict the spread of the blaze and protect neighbouring units. Crews remain on scene this morning damping down following the blaze.

At the height of the fire plumes of black smoke could be seen in the area around Stoke Prior, with witnesses saying the blaze could be seen several miles away in Droitwich.

The cause of the blaze is not known but no one is thought to have been injured.
