90-minute delays on M42 expected to affect rush-hour traffic

MOTORISTS are facing delays of up to one and a half hours in both directions on the M42 motorway between Solihull and Birmingham Airport.

Central Motorway Police Group has is on the scene of the incident and has closed two lanes of the northbound carriageway between junctions five and six.

Traffic officers estimate that normal traffic conditions will only return after 5.30pm. Southbound traffic is badly affected, with delays of around an hour between junctions seven and five.

The long delays are also affecting traffic on the M40 at junction 3A, where traffic is also slow.
