Community mentoring organisation wins LoveBrum funding

SUTTON COLDFIELD mentoring organisation Our Place Community Hub has been awarded £2,000 by LoveBrum in its monthly competition.
Each month, LoveBrum selects three good causes around one theme and asks its members to vote for one of the organisations.
September’s theme was education and Our Place was chosen ahead of Queen Alexandra College/Umberslade Nurseries and Sporting Spirit.
Our Place Community Hub was started in September 2011 when a group of local people came together with the idea of identifying a community venue where people could go to for advice, as well as for educational and social services.
The LoveBrum funds will go towards its mentoring service which delivers one to one and group based support for children, adults and parents on social, emotional and mental health issues.
Sporting Spirit – Working with children in schools to not only get them more interested in Sports, but to teach them about the risks of obesity and the health and nutritional benefits of foods.
