Massive employment site set to create 2,500 new jobs

PLANS that could create up to 2,500 jobs in Worcestershire are set for launch at a public event later this month.

The Redditch Gateway is being developed by Stoford, working alongside two landowners, the Gorcott Estate and the Homes and Communities Agency.

A public consultation on the 75-acre scheme will be followed by the submission of a planning application later this year.

The public exhibition will take place close to the development site, at the Blue Inn Hotel, off Far Moor Lane on Friday October 21, between 3-8pm, and then on Saturday October 22, between 11am and 3pm.

Members of the public have been invited to attend the exhibition and submit any comments they have on the development scheme.

A website – www.redditchgateway.co.uk – containing information about the scheme together with an online feedback form, will go live on Friday (October 14).

Alex Morgan, director at Stoford, said: “The Redditch Gateway development provides an exciting opportunity to create up to 2,500 jobs and attract more business to the area, as well as the opportunity for existing local businesses to grow. We look forward to providing further details about the plans and speaking with local people at the public exhibition.”

The gateway project has been boosted by £1.8m in funding from Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership. It will comprise approximately 915,000 sq ft of new office and industrial space, creating the potential for the new jobs.

The site is strategically located close to the M40 and M42, with a drive time of 20 minutes to Birmingham International Airport and its railway station.
